How to award a bid to a subcontractor
Compare submissions side-by-side and award the job to the best sub in one click.
Once your subs have submitted their bids, it's time to pick a winner. Kaliun makes it easy to compare pricing and award the job without leaving the project.
Open the project's Bidding tab
Go to Projects, open the project, and click the Bidding tab. Find the bid request you want to award.
Compare submissions
You'll see all submitted bids side-by-side, broken down by line item. This makes it easy to spot who's cheapest on each piece of the scope and who's most competitive overall.
Click "Award" on the winning bid
Once you've made your decision, click Award on the submission you want. Confirm the award when prompted.
You can optionally notify the subs who didn't win. This is a nice professional touch — they'll appreciate knowing the decision so they can move on.
What happens next
- Kaliun creates an expense for the awarded amount, complete with cost codes from the bid line items
- The expense shows up in the Committed layer of your job costing, so your budget instantly reflects the locked-in sub cost
- The awarded sub is linked to the expense for easy reference later
- You can track payments against this expense as the work progresses
